Abstract

Recent research from Torrens University of Australia explores the paradoxical roles of alcohol as a good and poor health behavior for Australian women. The study found that while alcohol provides pleasure for women, it also elevates the risk of chronic diseases such as breast cancer. The researchers emphasize the need for policies that address the gendered and emergent configurations of both the positive and negative aspects of alcohol consumption. They also suggest gender-responsive, multi-level policy options to reduce alcohol-related harms to women. [Extracted from the article]
