Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at Shanghai University of Engineering Science investigated the effect of clothing pressure from calf compression garments (CG) on muscle fatigue and activation during running. The study involved five amateur runners who wore a CG on their right leg while running. The results showed that the clothing pressure of the CG had both positive and negative effects on different muscle locations, with the pressure at the gastrocnemius lateral head (GL) and gastrocnemius medial head (GM) areas having a fatigue-relieving effect. However, excessive pressure on the tibialis anterior (TA) area had a negative effect. The study highlights the importance of considering clothing pressure effects on muscles during specific time periods when designing CG. [Extracted from the article]
