Abstract

A recent report from the University of Bordeaux in France explores movement-based strategies as alternatives to myoelectric controls for transhumeral prostheses. The researchers designed two methods to perform a head-to-shoulder transformation from orientation-only data, which could be available in real-life settings. Experimental results demonstrated that the second method effectively encoded the transition between the two frames, representing a necessary step toward the deployment of movement-based control in real-life scenarios. The research has been peer-reviewed and published in IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters. [Extracted from the article]
