Abstract

A study conducted in Liaoning, People's Republic of China, aimed to investigate the impact of abdominal lavage on complications in patients with acute purulent appendicitis. The study included 150 patients who were divided into three groups: one group underwent preoperative abdominal lavage, another group underwent postoperative abdominal lavage, and a third group did not undergo abdominal lavage. The results showed that performing abdominal lavage during laparoscopic appendectomy can significantly reduce postoperative pain, facilitate gastrointestinal function recovery, decrease the incidence of complications, and improve overall surgical recovery. However, further large-scale studies are needed to validate these findings. [Extracted from the article]
