Abstract

A new study conducted by researchers from the University of Augsburg in Germany explores the use of Music-Guided Resonance Breathing (MGRB) as a technique to reduce anxiety and stress in patients undergoing strenuous medical treatment. MGRB combines consciously slowed breathing with attentive music listening in healthcare settings. The study describes the development process of MGRB through an exploratory sequential mixed-methods approach, involving music therapy experts, healthy subjects, and a professional composer. The results of the study support the need for a controlled clinical trial with MGRB. The research was financially supported by Volkswagen and has been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
