Abstract

A recent study conducted in Muscat, Oman examined the eating habits of pregnant women who consult primary care physicians. The study aimed to identify sociodemographic factors associated with eating disorders in Oman. The research found that 1.6% of participants had a potential diagnosis of an eating disorder, with binge eating being the most common inappropriate behavior. Factors such as low pre-gestational Body Mass Index (BMI), working status, and high BMI before pregnancy were associated with various inappropriate eating behaviors. The study highlights the need for targeted interventions and support for vulnerable pregnant women. [Extracted from the article]
