Abstract
- Researchers at Shanxi Medical University in Taiyuan, China have developed a new sunscreen hydrogel that can prevent and treat skin damage caused by excessive ultraviolet (UV) radiation. The hydrogel, called Carb@PDA-L, is made by doping melanin-like L-lysine doped polydopamine (PDA-L) into a biocompatible poly-gamma-glutamic acid based hydrogel matrix. It has been found to have good biosafety, efficient UV shielding performance, and excellent antioxidative and anti-inflammatory properties. The research was supported by various funding sources and has been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
