Abstract

Researchers from the NIH's RECOVER Initiative have identified the most common symptoms of long COVID in children and adolescents based on a study of over 5,300 school-age children and teens. The researchers created indices of prolonged symptoms that can indicate long COVID in youths, although these indices are not meant for clinical diagnosis. The study found that symptoms of long COVID in children and teens differ from those in adults, and the indices will guide further research to improve diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of long COVID in young people. The researchers are also working on developing a research index for long COVID symptoms in younger children. [Extracted from the article]
