Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, India, focused on the detection of biomarkers in advanced lung adenocarcinomas. The study evaluated the utility of ALK and ROS1 fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) as a complement to immunohistochemistry (IHC) in routine predictive biomarker testing algorithms. The results showed that immunostaining is a robust method for ALK rearrangement testing, with FISH adding value in rare equivocal cases. Additionally, the study found that ROS1 rearrangement testing is more cost-effective if IHC is followed by FISH after excluding EGFR-mutant and ALK-rearranged adenocarcinomas.
