Abstract

The demand for construction robots is growing globally, with the global construction robot market expected to grow 17.5% between 2023 and 2030. Automation and modernization initiatives are driving this growth, as companies seek to reduce resource wastage and overall costs. Examples of construction robots in action include autonomous robots being used to build a residential tower in Seattle and a robotic hoist system improving productivity and safety on a municipal office building project in Boston. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms is further enhancing the capabilities of construction robots, both on the ground and in the air. Drones are also being utilized in construction projects for tasks such as site inspections and energy harvesting. Augmented reality (AR) is another technology being adopted in the construction industry, with the potential to improve productivity and collaboration. Virtual reality (VR) is also being embraced, with steel companies using VR to enhance efficiencies, customer satisfaction, and safety in building projects. Overall, the adoption of robotics, AI, AR, and VR in construction requires a shift in mindset and the development of new skills and talent. [Extracted from the article]
