Abstract
- This article discusses the use of Return-On-Investment (ROI) metrics in evaluating the cost efficiencies of different chemicals used in paper production. The ROI approach considers factors such as savings in basis weight and energy consumption, as well as the impact on production rate. The goal is to achieve the required strength for the lowest cost. The article also examines the effects of different conditions on paper mill production rate and discusses the evaluation of two products used to increase the strength of linerboard fiber. The results show that one product achieves higher strength at a lower refining energy cost. Overall, the article provides insights into optimizing paper manufacturing processes for cost efficiency.
