Abstract

Bill Mueller, former Boston Red Sox third baseman and current assistant batting coach for the Miami Marlins, is the only player in history to hit two grand slams in a single game from both sides of the plate. Mueller achieved this feat on July 29, 2003, against the Texas Rangers. Despite not being known for his power hitting, Mueller's switch-hitting ability and dedication to the game allowed him to have a successful career, including winning an American League batting title in 2003 and helping the Red Sox win the World Series in 2004. Mueller credits his father for encouraging him to switch-hit and for instilling in him important values and lessons about the game. [Extracted from the article]
