Abstract

A recent study conducted by the University of Southern California (USC) examined the regional gray matter density in pre-adolescent individuals with binge eating disorder (BED). The study found that girls with BED demonstrated diffuse clusters of greater gray matter density in various regions of the brain compared to boys with BED. These findings suggest that early-onset BED may be characterized by regional sex differences in gray matter morphometry. The study highlights the importance of considering sex differences in understanding the underlying mechanisms of BED in children. [Extracted from the article]
