Abstract
- A study conducted at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida, examined the use of intravenous diltiazem infusions for patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) or atrial flutter (AFL) in the emergency department (ED). The researchers compared the outcomes of patients who received a diltiazem drip after an IV diltiazem bolus to those who did not receive a drip. The study found that the use of a diltiazem drip was associated with less rate control in the ED and longer hospital stays. These findings suggest that alternative treatments may be more effective for rate control in patients with AF or AFL. [Extracted from the article]
