Abstract

Researchers from University College London (UCL) have developed an improved circuit topology for a high-voltage, differential, single-pole double-throw transmit/receive switch for an ultrasound hand gesture recognition system. The switch is designed to interface with bimorph piezoelectric micromachined ultrasonic transducer electrodes. The research provides insights into the performance of the switch and presents an extended model to predict harmonic distortion. The switch circuit exhibits low resistance and high isolation, and it is the first of its kind reported for piezoelectric micromachined ultrasonic transducer biomedical ultrasound systems. The research was supported by the European Union. [Extracted from the article]
