Abstract
- Researchers from Shockwave Medical Inc. have developed a new catheter design for treating calcified lesions in blood vessels. The catheter uses shock waves to crack and disrupt the lesions without causing harm to surrounding tissue. The innovation in this patent application allows physicians to physically move the emitters along the catheter inside long balloons, enabling precise positioning alongside the calcified lesion. This design aims to improve therapeutic outcomes while reducing procedure time and costs. The catheter design allows for effective treatment of occlusions in body lumens. [Extracted from the article]
