Abstract

This article presents a case study of a patient with severe refractory hypoparathyroidism after thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer. Despite receiving conventional treatment, the patient continued to experience debilitating symptoms and complications. The researchers developed a protocol for parathyroid transplantation from deceased donors and successfully performed the procedure on the patient. Following the transplant, the patient no longer required calcium supplements and experienced a significant improvement in their quality of life. The article emphasizes the potential benefits of parathyroid allotransplantation and suggests that more research is needed to improve transplant protocols and immunosuppressive regimens.
