Abstract

The article explores the evolving landscape of syndicated television shows, which now often have multiple sources of funding. TV stations and producers are finding creative ways to bring shows to the air, such as acquiring shows from streaming services, allowing simultaneous airing on other platforms, expanding existing programs, and creating local offerings that can also be broadcast regionally. Fox has an advantage in clearing shows due to its duopolies in major markets, and they prioritize day-and-date shows with a live component that can integrate with their owned TV stations. The article also highlights several shows launching this fall, including Good Morning Football: Overtime, True Crime News, Crime Exposé with Nancy O'Dell, and Flip Side. The popular show "Suits" experienced a resurgence in popularity through streaming platforms, which ultimately led to its success in broadcast syndication. The availability of the show on streaming services allowed it to reach a wider audience and gain renewed popularity. This success in syndication demonstrates the impact that streaming can have on the longevity and popularity of a television series. [Extracted from the article]
