Abstract
- Imidazolium salts with complex anions [Co<subscript>2</subscript>Li<subscript>2</subscript>(Piv)<subscript>8</subscript>]<superscript>2–</superscript> are formed as undesirable products of the reactions of heterometallic compound [Co<subscript>2</subscript>Li<subscript>2</subscript>(Piv)<subscript>6</subscript>(Py)<subscript>2</subscript>] with N-heterocyclic carbenes ItBu and IPr. The study of the magnetic properties of complex (HItBu)<subscript>2</subscript>[Co<subscript>2</subscript>Li<subscript>2</subscript>(µ<superscript>2</superscript>-Piv)<subscript>6</subscript>(κ<superscript>1</superscript>-Piv)<subscript>2</subscript>] shows that this compound is a single molecule magnet. Slow magnetic relaxation in the complex occurs due to a combination of the direct and Raman mechanisms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
