Abstract

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has called on US and European allies to remove restrictions on the use of long-range weapons against Russia. Zelenskiy argues that his military's incursion into Russian territory has exposed the Kremlin's threats of retaliation as illusory. Ukrainian forces currently control over 1,250 square kilometers of Russian territory and plan to expand further into the Kursk region. Zelenskiy believes that if Ukraine had been allowed to target Russian airfields and military bases with long-range weapons, the incursion would not have been necessary. The US and European Union have largely endorsed the operation, although they remain cautious about its prospects. Russia continues to launch attacks along the front line, advancing in the eastern Donetsk region. [Extracted from the article]
