Abstract

Google's Manifest V3 plan to replace its Manifest V2 API for Chrome extensions with Manifest V3 is causing controversy. While Google claims that Manifest V3 will provide increased safety and control over permissions, it will also break many extensions, including popular ad blockers like uBlock Origin. Google has added warnings to extensions that are not compatible with Manifest V3, and users can check which extensions will soon be unsupported in Chrome's Extensions Manager. Users can switch to Manifest V3-compatible versions of extensions or find alternative extensions, and they can also switch to other web browsers like Microsoft Edge, Brave, or Firefox, which have different timelines for implementing Manifest V3.
