Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in Italy explored the use of certain plants with progesterone-like properties, such as Dioscorea Villosa, Vitex Agnus Castus, and Turnera diffusa, for the treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding in women at high risk for breast cancer or breast cancer survivors. The study included 15 women who experienced a regularization of their menstrual cycles and a significant reduction in menstrual pain and flow intensity after three months of using the plant combination. Women with premenstrual syndrome also reported improvements in depression, headache, and abdominal pain. The researchers concluded that this plant combination shows promise for treating menstrual irregularities in women at genetic risk for breast cancer or breast cancer survivors.
