Abstract

A study conducted by the Kerman University of Medical Sciences in Iran examined the effectiveness of a herbal vaginal product called Cymbopogon olivieri in treating bacterial vaginosis, the most common vaginal infection in reproductive-age women. The study involved 90 women who were randomly divided into two groups, one receiving Cymbopogon olivieri and the other receiving metronidazole. The results showed that both treatments significantly reduced symptoms such as burning, itching, malodor, abnormal vaginal discharge, pH, clue cell, and positive whiff test. The study concluded that Cymbopogon olivieri is a suitable option for treating bacterial vaginosis. [Extracted from the article]
