Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover in Germany aimed to understand the molecular basis of West Nile virus (WNV) infections in mammalian hosts. The researchers conducted a meta-analysis of publicly available microRNA (miRNA) expression data from multiple independent studies and analyzed them in a harmonized way to increase comparability. They also used gene-set tests on mRNA target expression data to gain further evidence about differentially expressed miRNAs. The study identified several miRNAs that were differentially expressed and should be considered for further research on the molecular mechanism of WNV infections. [Extracted from the article]
