Abstract

A study conducted by researchers from Iran University for Medical Sciences examined the association between a resistin gene polymorphism and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The study included 150 patients with biopsy-proven NAFLD and 154 controls. The results showed that individuals with the RETN-420C >G 'CC' genotype had a decreased risk for NAFLD compared to those with the 'GG' genotype. The study suggests that the RETN-420C >G promoter polymorphism may influence susceptibility to NAFLD, but further research is needed to confirm these findings. [Extracted from the article]
