Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at North Carolina State University (NC State) explores the use of plasma-activated water (PAW) as a cleaning solution in the food manufacturing industry. The study aims to investigate the efficiency of PAW in removing fouling and reducing biofilm in dairy and plant-based industries. PAW, which is produced by exposing water to plasma, has shown promising results in cleaning fouled surfaces and reducing microbial contamination. The researchers suggest that PAW has the potential to be an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional cleaning-in-place (CIP) solutions in the food industry. [Extracted from the article]
