Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Osaka University in Japan explored the effects of hippocampal damage on pain perception in a rat model of Alzheimer's disease. The researchers used amyloid-b peptide 1-40 and ibotenic acid injections into the hippocampus to induce Alzheimer's disease in the rats. They found that the rats with hippocampal damage exhibited reduced responsiveness to persistent inflammatory chemical stimuli in the orofacial region. These findings contribute to a better understanding of somatosensory perception in patients with Alzheimer's disease. [Extracted from the article]
