Abstract

A study conducted by investigators at Yale University analyzed the impact of race and ethnicity on postoperative outcomes for pediatric patients undergoing cranial vault repair for craniosynostosis. The study found that there were racial and ethnic disparities in outcomes, with non-Hispanic White patients experiencing the least adverse events and shorter hospital stays compared to non-Hispanic Black and Hispanic patients. However, there were no significant differences in rates of complications, readmissions, or mortality between the racial and ethnic groups. The study suggests that further investigations are needed to address these disparities and provide equitable healthcare to at-risk populations. [Extracted from the article]
