Abstract
- Gold from electronic waste. The Royal Mint, which makes the UK’s coins, has opened a factory in Llantrisant, Wales, to recycle gold from electronic waste. Circuit boards from electronic items like computers, TVs and mobile phones contain valuable metals, including gold. A special technique will be used to extract gold from old circuit boards. The gold can then be re-used to make jewellery. The aim is to process 4,000 tonnes of electronic waste each year at the factory. [Extracted from the article]
