Abstract
- This article, titled "Eastern Passage," discusses the author's experiences traveling to India and Bangladesh and the challenges she faced in deciding what to wear and how to navigate cultural expectations. The author reflects on her early trips to India with her boyfriend, where they attempted to dress respectfully and live on a local budget. However, she realizes that their attempts at authenticity were just another set of rules. Later, when she travels to India alone and then to Bangladesh, she finds a sense of comfort and beauty in wearing a shalwar kameez, a traditional South Asian outfit. The author concludes that by choosing her own clothing, she feels cool, comfortable, and even pretty in South Asia for the first time. [Extracted from the article]
