Abstract

This article discusses the field of Learning Analytics and the need for practical applications and evidence of its effectiveness in real learning environments. The article presents six papers that cover a range of academic disciplines and utilize different types of data. The first group of papers focuses on traditional data sources and aims to identify students who need assistance and provide guidance to improve their learning processes. The second group of papers utilizes data from various sources, such as physical and physiological signals, to enhance the understanding and improvement of interactions during collaborative work and learning. The article concludes by stating that this special section provides a starting point for those interested in reproducible ideas and validated tools in the field of Learning Analytics.
