Abstract

This article analyzes the stories of Sait Faik Abasıyanık's book "Sarnıç" in the context of values education. The research finds that the book contains a wide range of values, indicating Sait Faik's value consciousness and understanding of society. The article emphasizes the importance of values education and the role of literature in transmitting values. The text discusses the relationship between education and literature, highlighting the role of literature in educating society and transmitting cultural values. It specifically focuses on the works of Sait Faik Abasıyanık, a Turkish writer known for his stories that emphasize love, respect, and tolerance. The text also describes the methodology used in analyzing Sait Faik's stories in terms of values education, using the Schwartz Values Classification as a tool. The findings of the analysis are presented for two of Sait Faik's stories, "Sarnıç" and "Kalorifer ve Bahar," highlighting the values of power, hedonism, stimulation, universalism, benevolence, tradition, and security. The article concludes by suggesting that experts should investigate the function of children's literature in acquiring values education and that curriculum programs should recommend books that encourage individuals to live and be sensitive to their environment.
