Abstract

Jyotiraditya Scindia, the new Union Cabinet Minister of Communications in India, has introduced several changes in the telecom sector to boost connectivity. One of the key changes is the establishment of Stakeholder Advisory Committees (SACs) in various sub-sectors of the industry, which allows for regular industry feedback and consultations. Scindia has also prioritized rural connectivity, aiming to provide network services to 24,000 villages within 12 months. Additionally, he has set goals for the state-backed telecom operator BSNL and plans to publish all rules under the Telecom Act, 2023 within the next six months. [Extracted from the article]
