Abstract
- A 51-year-old man developed a BK polyomavirus infection while undergoing immunosuppressive therapy for a kidney transplant. Despite treatment with mycophenolate, prednisone, and tacrolimus, his renal function continued to decline. The patient received immune-globulin treatment for the BK polyomavirus infection, but it was ineffective, leading to the need for dialysis and a subsequent transplant. The case highlights the lack of efficacy of immune-globulin in treating BK polyomavirus infection. [Extracted from the article]
