Abstract

Post-tropical cyclone Debby is causing heavy rain and flooding across the eastern US, from Georgia to New Hampshire. The storm, which first hit Florida as a hurricane, has resulted in at least seven deaths, widespread flooding, and power outages affecting over 78,000 customers in 11 states. Rainfall amounts of 10 to 15 inches have been recorded, with some areas receiving up to 17.78 inches. The storm is currently moving towards Upstate New York, northern New England, and southern Quebec. Tornado watches have been issued for areas east of the storm, including Washington, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. Additionally, forecasters are monitoring an area in the central Atlantic with a 60% chance of becoming the next storm of the season. [Extracted from the article]
