Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Hamamatsu University School of Medicine in Japan has explored the use of mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) combined with dimensionality reduction methods to examine the distribution and impact of the tricyclic antidepressant imipramine on endogenous metabolites in the brains of mice. The researchers found that the sparse autoencoder (SAE) method was particularly effective in identifying phosphorylcholine (ChoP) as a potential marker distinguishing between control and treated mice brains. They also observed a significant decrease in ChoP accumulation in various regions of the treated mice brains. This novel approach to data analysis shows promise for future research in this field.
