Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at Cukurova University Faculty of Medicine in Turkey has found that refraining from consuming allergic foods, chronic inflammation, and the use of immunosuppressive drugs are factors associated with anemia in children with atopic dermatitis (AD). The study analyzed the medical records of 100 children with AD and 100 healthy children of the same age group without AD. The frequency of AD was significantly higher in children with AD compared to healthy children. The researchers suggest that clinicians should be aware of screening and monitoring for AD in children with AD to minimize the burden of the disease. Further studies are needed to investigate the link between iron deficiency anemia and AD. [Extracted from the article]
