Abstract

A recent report from researchers at Shanghai Jiao Tong University discusses the concept of switchable adhesion, which refers to the ability of a surface to transition between attachment and detachment states under external stimuli. The report explores the fundamental interactions at the atomic/molecular level that contribute to adhesion behaviors, as well as the design strategies for creating switchable adhesion interfaces (SAIs) based on different forces and bonds. The researchers also provide an overview of the wide range of applications for SAIs, from space to biomedicine, and discuss the challenges and opportunities in this field. The study has been peer-reviewed and published in Advanced Materials Interfaces. [Extracted from the article]
