Abstract

A report from the Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey discusses two cases of anaphylaxis in children following bone marrow transplantation. Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction that can occur during hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, a treatment for various diseases. The researchers suggest that the anaphylactic reactions may have been triggered by cryoprotective agents used in the transplantation process, such as dimethyl sulfoxide. However, they also acknowledge that other components of the stem cell products could have played a role. Further research is needed to better understand and prevent these reactions.
