Abstract

A study conducted at the University of Leuven in Belgium examined the effect of different grit-blasting treatments on the bonding effectiveness of veneering ceramic to zirconia in dentistry. The researchers found that grit-blasting zirconia before sintering increased surface roughness, while grit-blasting with a specific sand particle size after sintering improved the bonding of the veneering ceramic to zirconia. This finding suggests that the latter treatment may reduce fractures or chipping of the veneering ceramic. The study provides valuable insights for dental professionals seeking to enhance the durability of dental restorations. [Extracted from the article]
