Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at Southwest Medical University in Sichuan, China, explored the effects of naringenin (NAR) on the osteogenic differentiation of human periodontal ligament stem cells (hPDLSCs) and its potential for repairing alveolar bone defects. The study found that NAR activates the nitric oxide (NO)-cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)-protein kinase G (PKG) signaling pathway by binding to AKT, which promotes the osteogenic differentiation of hPDLSCs. The researchers used various techniques such as mRNA sequencing, western blotting, and immunofluorescence to evaluate gene and protein expression levels and observe the osteogenic capacity of hPDLSCs. Micro-CT and Masson staining confirmed that the NAR gavage group exhibited more new bone formation at the defect site. The study suggests that NAR could be a potential therapeutic agent for bone regeneration. [Extracted from the article]
