Abstract

This article discusses the importance of water pretreatment for businesses that rely on equipment such as steamers, hot water heaters, coffee makers, and ice machines. It explains that water hardness, caused by calcium and magnesium ions, can lead to scale formation and inefficient operation of equipment. The article introduces various anti-scale technologies, including ion-exchange resins and phosphate/polyphosphates, as well as a new media blend that has shown promising results in controlling scale buildup and corrosion. The document includes a test conducted in Henderson, NV, comparing different anti-scale media, with Media 3 performing the best. Overall, the study emphasizes the significance of addressing scale issues in water treatment to prevent equipment problems. [Extracted from the article]
