Abstract
- As one of the symbols of the initial establishment of modern Chinese scholarship, the discipline of foreign literature emerged in the evolution of modern national education trends and changes in national education, which is the inevitable result of Chinese learning from the West since modern times. With the deepening of Chinese understanding of the values and connotations of Western studies, the reformists represented by Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao played an important role in the reform of national education and the creation of foreign literature discipline. They not only have a profound discourse of national education, linking national education with the era proposition of saving the nation from subjugation, but also notice and introduce foreign literature to varying degrees. Their thinking and practice have laid an important foundation for the development of foreign literature discipline in national education in the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
