Abstract
- The present study was conducted on the blood cells of thirty domestic fowls, guinea fowls and pigeons. Ten birds were taken from each species. Basophils in all the three species were positive for mucopolysaccharides. The reactivity in guinea fowls was strong, moderate in pigeons and weak in domestic fowls. Heterophils showed strong reactivity in guinea fowls, moderate in pigeons and weakest reaction in fowls for glycogen when stained with PAS stain. Eosinophils of guinea fowls showed strongest and moderate reactivity in fowls, while weakest reactivity was observed in pigeons when blood smears were stained with Sudan Black B stain. Leucocytes showed negative reaction for mucopolysaccharide, glycogen and lipid in domestic fowls, guinea fowls and pigeons. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
