Abstract

Researchers from the Medical University of Lublin have conducted a study on pulmonary embolism (PE) in orthopedic patients. The study aimed to determine if certain laboratory parameters could be used to diagnose and predict PE. The researchers found that the D-dimer/troponin I ratio and age-adjusted D-dimer were effective in predicting and diagnosing PE in orthopedic patients. These findings suggest that combining readily available laboratory tests with clinical observation can provide a cost-effective diagnostic alternative for PE. Further studies are recommended to validate these results. [Extracted from the article]
