Abstract

A report from the University of Cape Coast in Ghana discusses the ethical implications of the widespread use of informal mHealth methods in the country. Community health nurses in Ghana often use their personal mobile phones to make calls and exchange health data with clients, colleagues, and superiors. However, this practice raises concerns about privacy invasion, breaches of confidentiality, and potential harm to the nurses. The author supports a formalized adoption process for informal mHealth in Ghana but acknowledges that ethical challenges will still exist even with formalization. [Extracted from the article]
