Abstract

New research from the University of New South Wales in Australia explores the health literacy and educational needs of individuals with Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) in prison. The study found that while knowledge of HCV transmission risks and the importance of testing and treatment was high, there were gaps in health literacy regarding engagement with HCV services, safe injecting behaviors, and re-infection and re-treatment. The researchers suggest that targeted education programs in prisons could enhance HCV testing, treatment, and prevention by improving health literacy among incarcerated individuals. This research has been peer-reviewed and provides valuable insights for improving HCV care in prison settings. [Extracted from the article]
