Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the Catholic University of Korea focused on the use of modified quick sequential organ failure assessment (m-qSOFA) to identify high-risk patients with acutely deteriorated chronic liver disease (CLD), particularly those with acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF). The study analyzed data from the Korean Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure (KACLiF) and the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver ACLF Research Consortium (AARC) cohorts. The findings showed that patients with high m-qSOFA had lower transplant-free survival rates and higher organ failure development compared to those with low m-qSOFA. The study concluded that baseline and dynamic changes in m-qSOFA can help identify CLD patients at a high risk of developing organ failure and short-term mortality. [Extracted from the article]
