Abstract

A recent report from the University of Liege in Belgium presents findings on asthma, specifically focusing on patients with noneosinophilic asthma. The researchers used an unsupervised clustering method to analyze a cohort of 588 patients and identified two distinct subgroups. Cluster 1 consisted mostly of females with late disease onset, low atopy, and a history of smoking. Cluster 2 was predominantly male, with early disease onset, high atopy, and moderate treatment burden. The study found differences in disease control, quality of life, and inflammation patterns between the two clusters. This research provides valuable insights into the heterogeneity of noneosinophilic asthma. [Extracted from the article]
