Abstract

A recent report from the University of Illinois College of Medicine discusses a case study in pediatric cardiology. The study focuses on a male neonate with a diagnosis of double-inlet left ventricle with dextro-transposition of the great arteries who experienced respiratory insufficiency shortly after birth. The patient underwent a successful Stage I hybrid procedure, but persistent respiratory insufficiency led to further intervention, including a Norwood procedure with a Blalock-Thomas-Taussig shunt. The patient was discharged at 2 months of age, highlighting the successful management of this unique case.
